Gathering and school visit

Last night, Me, TW Cheung, tzejin and ah long had a little dinner gathering. Was funny. Talked alot of crap and stupid past. Stupid it is, but it is part of the four of us, like a stain that can't be washed off.

TzeJin: Hey, I havent been to the school since donkey years! How about tomorrow pay a lil' visit.
TW Cheung: Okay, sure thing.
Ah Long:..........kanasai[*]...
Me: Okay, cool.
Me*thinks*: what the blazes?? Actually, I dont mind visit the school. It's close to my home, 30 minutes walk. I would like to meet the teachers too. Familiar faces. But I disliked awkward silence. That always happens. Imagine this,,,, you bumped onto a person you happen to know, exchanged greetings, chat a little, then suddenly, "now what?" , opps , g2g!

Anyways, here comes the core.

I'm sorry to say this. But I really mean it. The school is in a sad state. So bad.
It was a good school, it still is, well I think. The teachers were good, not awesome. There were some favoritism , here and there, biasness,,,yes, but doesnt matter, at the end of the day, they're cool. I know.

There used to be a wooden block of 4 classes for the pre-primary ( I was there!! Pra 1C!). They are now completely demolished. There were some building in progress, but stopped halfway. Apparently waiting for govt approval. That's what I understood and was told. The senior master house was completely up-rooted too. Weird, I dont know why the house is gone too. See, the funny thing is that, why the old wooden block is demolished BEFORE getting the new proposed building to be approved? This proved the first hypothesis of govt approval is wrong. Something is going on in the board of the school. The board of directors is like a taboo, since the management crisis[*] I dont know what's going on.

We met the librarian, Librarian was furious. Since the school lack of space for class rooms now, the library was converted to classroom. And the old principal house become the library. Since the house is actually within the vicinity of the school compound and has been abandoned. So might as well. It is I guess the only way, a desperate one too. No, actually not, before coming to this option, the school temporarily had the nomadic students classes held in laboratory. Which I think is more sensible. But Hell no, you think the school was smart, the parents werent dumb either. Complains came. Argument is they paid school fees so expect worthy teaching treatment and environment. Okay. treatment maybe just passed at brim, but environment is a no no. The laboratory is too hot for them. Jesus Christ! I had my times with no air con okay, well, until Form 1. Honestly I prefer fans. Better ventilation.

Bumped onto the History teacher. He is the editor of the school magazine. Chat for a while, he seem delighted. Then he asked each of us to write an article for the magazine to be posted. Uh oh, bad news folks. I know.

I was hesitant to do so. I dont know what to write anyways. Wait, maybe I should just copy and paste this piece of little blog article and sent it to him. How ingenious. But no. I wont do so.

I should have taken some pictures and posted here. But doesnt matter, the school was excatly the same as I remembered two years ago when I left for England. The situation was just as bad as today. A reminder, the proposal for the new building was in 1999 or way before that! So by next year I can still probably take pictures of today's images. This , I hope I am wrong. It is a good school, It shouldn't end like this.

[*] Kanasai- Actually, I dont really know what kanasai is. Probably some dialect. But I do know how to use it where approriate. Make sense? no?. whatever.
[*] Management crisis- The principal left in a day in 2005/6. Sacked? resigned? Rumors everywhere. None are confirmed. Only the principal and the inner circle knows.
